It's what you spoke of in the previous thread regarding heater cores.

Oh, and for someone like me, I'd recommend a weekend. Seriously. I think the whole "boxes" with memos tip is probably going to be the most useful thing for me, because I know I'll do something wrong, or put something in the wrong place.

Can be done, looks more complicated than it actually is. Just takes time. Have done that recently on an E32 750iL.
ost important is you have a plan and manage all the parts which you remove. Make boxes for parts, make memos, make pics in installed condition, much easier to reassemble. Otherwise there might be something left over. ;-)
We did it during the week in the evenings, maybe 4-6 hours in total with 2 persons.
But it was not the first time, so as a beginner calculate with 10 hours plus, or a weekend.

Finally we found the car owner :D

I was digging on one U.K. board thru old postings I made there under tips and tricks and I found that again.
Very good pics, that is why I thought to post that here again is a good idea for people like Charles ;) and others, which are mentally preparing for this big job.

+1000 to that... there are fifteen different screws all of the same thread pitch, some phillips, some hex, different lengths, etc... plus a half dozen hidden fasteners that are very easy to forget when putting it back together. "Hey look at that... I've got screws left over... hope they're not important..." :)

Thanks to both of you. Its likely an inevitable job for most. As I don't know when (or if) mine was last replaced, I'm waiting for it to kick the bucket, along with a few other things;)

Ahhhh, but its at rest in the garage for the winter. Maybe an interior clean and seat removal this weekend?
