Going to see a 2000 e39 530D, any tips on what to look for?

Hi All

My brother in law is going to see an e39 530d sport touring with 63k tomorrow morning, does anyone have any opinions on this car and any tips on what goes wrong and what he should look out for?

Unfortunately E39 530d's were never sold in Australia due to the **** quality diesel fuel we had at the time. :(

Here's a start in general...

Thanks for that, many of the things on that e39 problem list seem to apply to the e34 as well. Who says they never learn?!!

A thought as well - the E39 has multi-link rear suspension as well as the front...

Remember doing the control arms on your E34? Twice as many to replace on an E39 if they start playing up!
