the thing is, it's far more expensive to bring those cars back to their glory than they are worth. same is true for pretty much any restoration.

That ferrari 308 looks like it was in a flood.
That old Mercerdes on the first page is b far my favorite!

Truely sad.
Looking at the Ferrari pic on the first page, does anyone else see an E34/E32 front door on the right side?

The Miura and the 300SL's are definitely worth saving ! The rest are just "money pits"
On a side note, the Miura is definitely one of the all time masterpieces in terms of automotive styling. Truely stunning.

I know where a jag 120 is... not worth saving. And an Opel GT.
and a fully loaded tr6 ( OD, rollhoop, ac, hard top, stereo) that 10 years ago was a daily... and hasn't moved since. And a tr4a.
maybe not super cars... but rare cars nonetheless

You may be right. I'm just surprised nobody mentioned the girl slapping her arse. But I drive for a living so would notice these things:D

one of the guys on another forum sees the same e39 540ia sitting in the same spot every day....covered with bird sh#t and leaves....
Just yesterday I saw two Maserati BiTurbos on seperate lots covered in snow. Justly abandoned
We have an XJ220 Jaguar in our shop with 7k miles. It's still in perfect condition and we're piecing it back together at the moment.
"It's still in perfect condition and we're piecing it back together at the moment"
Huh?
We've taken things apart and cleaned/refurbished anything that needed such, and putting them back on.

Oops - I feel guilty. There's an abandoned 560SEC Merc in my yard. 37,000 miles.... My "spares" car.
I bought an '87 new, the FI models were supposed to be better. Hmm. Sold it the moment the warranty expired(to a guy who also owned a Lagonda). In just over 12k miles it left me stranded twice and spent several long stays at the shop. It was a barrel of monkeys to drive though.

that made me sad

Another one we're now fixing and putting back on the track where it belongs.
I had the pleasure of doing the brake job on this which requires some 16 brake pads and the whole rear end removed to access the rear rotors. If curious, its the original Group 44 Jaguar Racer for British-Leyland, driven by Bob Tullins. Nice record for the car.
Here's a shell of a 40's something Caddy and in the background you can see the sexy ass of the XJ220. The Caddy looks like its in decent shape in the pic, but trust me it's been tortured over the years :(

Remember that old BMW dealership that was abandoned and used as a storage facility for all some guys older BRAND NEW BMWs, like an e28 5 and repainted e24 6, also a 3 and some other stuff.
Really cool, but everything was so dusty!

If you`ve fired that XJ without changing the cam belt and modifying the idler pulley then you`ve got a good boat anchor there!
