UPDATE - scroll down to my last post where i did some experimenting with teh recirc button
hey all,
if i've got my blower set to pos 1, 2, or 3 it'll work for a bit, then stop. then work for a bit, then stop. it is random as far as i can tell. position 4 always works.
according to bruno's site it could be my sword
http://bmwe34.net/e34main/maintenance/electrical/sword.htm
but i'm not entirely convinced ... since it does work on 1/2/3 if only for a short periods of time.
thoughts?

Before ordering new parts, try cleaining the blower control knob contacts as per Ferret's instructions. I'm too lazy to look up the thread but it's out there and there's pictures in it and stuff.

thanks guys.
here's a bit of mystery to add:
when i have the recirc on the blower never turns off.
so to recap....
if i have the fan/blower in 1/2/3 it will at random start and stop again for varying amounts of time... however if i recirc the air it will work 100%...
does this help in pinpointing where i need to look? its rather cold out and I'd prefer to get in, do the job and button the car back together in as little time as possible.
