changing out my oil cannister - got a question.

The gasket between the cannister and the block seems to be fused to the block. What is an ole mechanics trick to get it off with having to love on it with a single edge razor?

that or a die grinder with a rolllock disc or cookie wheel

Hi,

You can use one of those over-the-counter gasket remover goops but make sure you wipe off the block really well to get it all off.

I used a fresh single side razor blade mounted in a holder to clean the block at the oil cannister. You just have to be careful about getting gasket material down in your sump. I suggest blocking the hole with a rag or taping it as you clean this surface...it will come nice and clean with a razor blade...just takes some effort.
