Relays next to DME

From my understanding, this is what you should find under the DME covering panel (with an actual relay for the fuel pump instead of a fused switch):

However, on my 10/88 Build Date 535iA, there are only 2 relays. One is the DME relay, and the other is a mystery orange/yellow-coloured relay with part number 61 31 1 376 301. When I put this part number into RealOEM, nothing comes up. Is it the fuel pump relay? O2 sensor relay? Would the new orange coloured relay P/N 61 36 1 378 238 work in its place, as shown in this diagram?

Could it be that 535i's don't have O2 sensor relays?

My 4/89 built 535 is the same. I forget which relay has 4 pins and which is 5, the 5 pin can be substituted for the 4 pin, but not the other way. The 5th pin is a normally closed contact the 4 pin doesn't have.
These are standard relays and can be had for a couple bucks a piece if you browse the local parts stores electrical suppliers catalog rather than ordering for a specific application.

Where are you located? I remember some euro cars do not have oxygen sensors.

I got to thinking about this so investigated.
The fuel pump and O2 sensor share the same relay, the four pin one whichever color it is, orange I think.

Jon: I live in Canada, and my car definitely has an O2 sensor. Ross: Would one of the later style relays (separate for O2 sensor and fuel pump) be interchangeable?

According to the Bentley one of our 5 pin relays doesn't have a N.C. contact but has the 87 &87a terminals joined. I suspect Bentley is wrong and it wouldn't be the first time.
I think you are refrring to the 4 pin, so yes a later 4 pin should work.
