This is my own guess about the work I'm getting done soon. This is with me buying the parts myself and having a local BMW Indy do the job. The main Item is the lower driver's side Timing chain Cover Gasket, then replacing some items removed getting there, and a few other items needed . Am I leaving anything important out ?
Coolant hoses- 30(removed fixing oil leak, new part recommended)
pwr steer resev- 23(leaks)
belt- 20(removed fixing oil leak, new part recommended)
thermostat- 22(removed fixing oil leak, new part recommended)
water pump w gasket- 140(removed fixing oil leak, new part recommended)
radiator- 258( must be removed to fix oil leak, new part to prevent failure of old part)
o2 sensor- 275 (Regular interval replacement exceeded, will improve gas milage)
rear subframe mounts-100 (already bought, labour to come apx $300)
pwr steer hoses- 300(leaking)
coil boots- 65(contained oil)
t-chain cover gaskets- 40( Needed to stop Oil Leak)
lower oil pan gasket- 20*( need to check oil pump requires removal)
throttle housing gasket- 7( must be removed to fix oil leak)
intake manifold gask- 70( must be removed to fix oil leak)
valve covr grom- 20(must be replaced new when replacing valve covers when replacing coil boots)
valley pan and gasket- 75( must be removed fixing oil leak)
motor mount- 52*( weakened due to leaking power steering fluid, fails, motor shakes car , can be replaed easier when power steering hoses, radiator etc out for oil leak repair)
guibo- 90*( weak, causes clunk when accelerating)
coolant- 20 ( refill after repairs)
oil- 60 (refill after repairs)
Parts Total=$1,687
Labor est=$1,800
Grand Total=$3,500.00
*= may not be required but probable
This list is only my best guess based on
conversations with mechanics and
other owners. The actual parts required
may vary or include items not listed
and the labor charge at $100/hr may differ.
