Got a few more details to do with the engine.

Does anyone know how to differentiate the cam position and crank position connector on the car harness? I labeled them but my cleaning washed the ink off. I can multimeter it but, I'd rather just "know" if thats possible. You'd think they'd be keyed not to swap...

What guys think?

Digging the black crinkle-finish on the valve cover and the oil filter housing. It should have been that way from the factory...

I take it you are using a pusher fan for the radiator as there is like no room between the front of the engine and the back of the radiator.

Can you hear the whine of the dino yet?;)

Hey Jon - Do you have the ETM CD? That should have a harness pic to help you sort what's what. Also, IIR, the plug ends are typically different so you can't x-plug them. Would it be possible to look at the end of the sensor plugs and then compare to the harness?

Looks great. Sorry, I can't help with the wiring question. I checked a wiring diagram and they even used the same color wires to both sensors.

In at least one other BMW, they're pretty much impossible to tell apart, down to the color of the connectors. I labeled mine when I was doing my E30 M3 engine rebuild, but somehow managed to swap them during the install. The only way I figured out what had happened was to switch them and try to start the car again. I knew to watch out for that, but I was so sure that I'd gotten it right that it took a few days before I "gave up" and switched the connectors. Voila, the damn thing started up like it had been shut down a minute before. Made me feel like an idiot to have wasted hours tapping on fuel injectors, checking for spark, etc...
