hey hows it going i got my car back on the road again, finally had time and a place to rebuild the tranny and well all's good!!
in any case i still got electrical problems to deal with

windows/sunroof don't work
obc lights up clock, date, temp work, but none of the other funtions do ie speed, range cons1/2 etc
i'm getting around 18l/100km for current consumption
power locks(mind you i removed them, but the one i left in isn't working and yes i bench tested it)
the wipers work on high only, sometimes they work by themselves regardless of switch settings and only when the map lights are working in reverse(door closed and the light up)
winsheild washers don't work either

on the other hand the radio, glove box light, truck light, map lights, visor lights work fine

and the window switches have a very weak illumination

are all these problems related to the wiring at the gm/rm, or is there something else acting up here?

thanks for your help!!

The problem with windshield wipers randomly turning on was common on these cars when they were relatively new. Right after my neighbor bought his 530i I remember him showing the car to my dad and the wipers all the sudden turning themselves on. I believe the car was doing other weird electrical things too... If I recall I think the dealership replaced the GM. Now mind you, I was about 8 so I don't exactly remember what the problem was and wouldn't have registered the term "general module," but GM would be my bet.

*waiting for experts to chime in*

Wipers are also speed controlled, fuel consumption and average speed etc calculation needs the speed signal too, maybe....??

windshield, wipers are controlled by the GM via the RM.
So it could also be a fault there.
Maybe you unplug the GM and RM once, clean all pin connections and then insert them again.

Q-tips, pipe cleaners, emery cloth, small brushes, pencil erasers, whatever you can fit in the connectors. A good shot of spray contact cleaner to finish up.
