I installed the Akebono ceramic brake pads over the weekend on my 740il. The installation of the front brake pads was about the same or easier than on my 1992 525i.
My question is that when I replaced the brakes on the 1992 and put a new brake sensor on the Check brake lining indicator on the dash would be gone. However that is not so on the 2001 740il. According Ives at BMA Auto the system needs to be reset to make the Check Brake linings indicator go away. Apparently that reset tool is expensive (no price was quoted). Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this problem?
By the way, the Akebono pads work really well and the brake dust problem is minimal.
Best regards,
