Previous owner cut cig lighter wires. cant find them!

Due to a recent speeding ticket i invested in a radar detector. when i plugged it into my cig lighter nothing happened. So i pulled the ash tray and discovered that both of the wires have been cut for some reason and arent back there. they appear to have fallen down somewhere. Any suggestions?

hardwire it to the car. Use the IGN and ground wires to your stereo. IGN is either yellow or red if its an aftermarket stereo, I can't remember which is ign and which is constant +12v

Could you plug it into the lighter on the backside of the console?
