i'm looking to replace the OEM ones with Bosch Aerotwins.

what should be the sizes for both driver & passenger arm (in terms of length in inches) that i should specify?

is it 24 inches/24 inches (driver/passenger)?

do you have a welding machine? One arm has to be cut and rewelded again in a different way, at least that is how it works on E32

You need 22" for both. 24" will be too long. As you can see in shogun's picture, the passenger side will not wrap around the bottom corner of the window. This does not affect its performance however.

What is the difference between the AeroTwin wipers and the Icon wipers? They look almost identical.

mine is a RHD (like UK cars) - so it should be 24" LH (passenger) & 22 " RH (driver)?

You can run a pair of 22" blades, or a 22" blade on the LH side and a 24" blade on the RH side. But you can't run a pair of 24" blades as they're too long on the LH side.

I've got the 22" LH and 24" RH setup (factory) on mine.

22" blade on the left side when in the car looking out of the windshield.

I ordered a set of aero twins and found the drivers one didn't fit (RHD car) because of the reverse U so I sent them back. When I returned them the guy was surprised that they didn't fit as he'd sold to many e34 owners. Do all e34s have a reverse U or is it something to do with whether you have the speed sensitive pressure thing?

Early models have the inverted "u" on the driver's side arm. Later e34s (although I'm not sure of the exact model year) were fitted with standard arms. The passenger side is always normal.

But my car is a 96 model?!

So what was the purpose of the inverted U?

My guess would be to make you pay BMW $55 every time you want to replace that blade..........or maybe it has something to do with the aerodynamic design of the blade.

Cut and welded the arm. Sanded and three coats of flat black. Drilled a small hole opposite the slotted hole so the wiper arm would snap on. Trico 22" on the left and 24" on the right. Perfect fit. Look new. Thanks for the fix
