So today I got a couple of things sorted.

First off the car came with 3 good tyres and one that was pretty illegal.

Of the 3 good ones, the two in front were in exactly the same shape and one of the rears brand new.

So I had to replace the one bad tyre ASAP and it HAD to be the same GY Eagle NCT5 205/65/15. I'm not planning on running 1 tyre of a different type on the car.

So yesterday I started phoning around to try and get an idea of costs. I could not get a NCT5 in that size ANYWHERE! Got told by everyone that they have been discontinued and replaced by the Excellence.

So one of the HI-Q's phones back and says they have one NCT5 on a mag on display. Went there this morning to have it fitted and balanced all 4 tyres. Oh, tyre cost R785.

Then, the car's interior was in pretty good shape when I got it, but the leather was really dried out. Been treating it every couple of days and the leather is gradually becoming softer. Looking a lot better as well.

Also, the standard Grundig radio/tape only played through the left side speakers when it worked. Replaced that today with a Sony MP3 player. Picked the Sony as the backlighting fits in with that of the car the best. I think it looks rather nice.

Great job on the leather. Would you mind telling us what product you used? I need to soften my black interior and it looks like you had good results.

For the leather:

First off I used some cheap "Shield" leather stuff I had. Seats were so dry that I used what was left in the bottle rather quickly.

I really love Meguiars' car stuff, so I went to the shop to get their leather conditioning product and next to it on the shelf was common Dubbin which is used for leather shoes and what not.

Bought the Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner Conditioner. http://www.meguiars.com/?automotive-leather-care/Gold-Class-Leather-Cleaner-Conditioner

Got home and got the Dubbin that I had here. I used all the Dubbin I had and massaged it into the leather by hand. Left in the sun to stand and wiped off the rest. Then treated with Meguiars stuff.

Recently bought some more Dubbin-esque stuff and treated leather with that.

Today applied Meguiars again. I like Meguiars as it doesn't leave your seats with the tacky shiny surface that other products does.

Hope this helps.
