See find and compare cars, compare side by side.
Would be nice to get more entries for E34 and E32 to compare with our own data.

Would be nice to get more entries for E34 and E32 to compare with our own data.If you call what's on that site "data". I haven't gotten less than 23mpg on a tank in my 5-sp '95 525i (Conforti chip, premium fuel) in the 30,000 miles I've owned it. Traveling I get a minimum of 500 miles a tank before I stop and it usually takes 18 gallons at that time, or over 27mpg, at an average speed of just under 80mph. What I have found is that not using the A/C and where truck traffic is moving along at my speed (I-81 in Virginia), the aerodynamic gains from forced drafting behind the semis has put me up to 29mpg at that same speed. I've seen 600 miles on more than one tank. Mileage under normal conditions seems to drop by 2-4 mpg at speeds over 80mph. I might do better when I take my winter tires off, but 14,000 of those miles has been since November.
Of course all these data points are moot when you consider the speedos are generally off (optimistic) by at least 5%. I suspect the same could be true for the odometer but I've never bothered to check. That could drop mileage figures by a gallon-and-a-half or more.
