Hey everyone,
I don't post much but I lurk allot :)
Anyhoo, have a 535iA that has a manual. The PO converted it to a manual roughly 2 years ago (about 10 months after I bought it) drives fine and all but it's just where this gearbox came from that puzzles me. PO said it was from an E28 with an M30 engine.
Have a few part-numbers here which may help (I've searched all of these on realoem.com with no avail):
2600105091 This number is part of the gearbox. As in it was part of the cast when manufactured
NG004669 This number has been stamped onto a flat surface on the box (very neatly like what you'd expect from the factory).
And finally 1128517 this number is on the cross brace of the box. With a search on realoem.com it shows that it could be from a number of E28's or an E24. Though it looks like this part has been modified by the PO to suit the E34 bolt hole positions on the body.
Brief description - Aluminium, round in shape (E34 5 speeds were a 'square' shape) and both the drain and fill plugs are 24mm diameter with 17mm in-hex sockets. That's about it really. It mates onto the engine fine....and as I said it drives fine. How can I confirm where this thing comes from? :( :D :(
