Alarm system? A silent alarm system that just double-locks the doors? What?? Something is missing here. Lesson for everyone, banging on windows will NOT unlock doors and trying to PULL the sunroof open is not feasible. I wonder, can you start the engine when the car is double locked? Theoretically you wouldn't be able to be inside the car with it double-locked, I should test this out as one of my lock actuators is disconnected...

Sounds like the immobilizer kicked in and somehow triggered the double lock. Luckily only the immobilizer kicked in on my car today and I didn't get locked inside. Good ol German know how ;), lock the thieves (or any other unlucky soul inside the car). Just another day in BMW paradise.
