Caught my eye is Scientific American.

I saw that ad in popular science, I decided it must not work or there would be a real article about it. Has anyone tried them?

Lisa! In this household we obey the laws of thermodynamics!

1MW pulse from them? Get real - this is like those little 2" speakers that you get from computer shops that say "1000W PMPO" out of something that blatantly doesnt even make a watt.

You may get an increased peak output, but tbh it's snake oil - if you get a strong spark (and from a coilpack, believe me, you get an arm-numbing spark) it's not really going to make that much difference. Under the physics laws - the plugs can only output LESS energy than put in... the amount of burn energy provided ... and the timing delay (remember your phase shift calculations!) cannot be good!

Most of the quoted 'power increases' are probably swapping worn/dirty plugs for new...

Also their policy on Debit card transactions would make me nervous!

Maybe it's Chinese watts that they didn't convert to American watts (100 US$=710 Yuan).

A thousand watts might have been a bit more realistic.

Wait... they say Enerpulse makes them and they only sell them. http://www.enerpulse.com/

Enerpulse's claims are a bit more realistic, saying ten times more powerful and something about stability.

Yah, but they still claim a 1 MW pulse. And this by adding a capacitor.
Gimme a break.

Caught my eye is Scientific American.

They are $25 each. Who wants to spend $150 - 200 each time you have to do a tune up?

FWIW i saw this in Road & Track TODAY... was gonna ask about them here too..

Isn't this a product of Ohms Law? Lemme see here...

To get 1,000,000 Watts with a coil that puts out 40,000 Volts...
25 Amps and 1,600 Ohms resistance.

Not even taking into consideration the resistance created by the wires themselves and the plugs, aren't the boots on the 525i supposed to be like 2600 Ohm? 40,000Volts @ 2600Ohms = just over 15Amps and 615,000Watts...
and that's with no loss in the wires and plugs.

Am I doing this right?

If you want to play with spark and flame fronts, just get into side-gapping and indexing.

If you want more power, nothing beats a Super-Sprinkler... no wait... a Hyper-Juicer... no wait... A Mega-Squirt, yeah that's it.

Were you talking about the actual injection hardware called Mega Squirt or were you just making up funny names? :D Cause Mega Squirt is something that actually exists and is legit. Although, I can't see myself ever wanting to spend the time making it work on my car. lol! I see guys pump up their Volvo's with Mega Squirt all the time, but they are usually using turbos.

I saw JonK's posts on Mega Squirt a while ago. Took me some time to remember the exact name.
