My bro's 94 525 with s5d250g is leaking from the tail end. Anything to do other than just replace the seal? Car has 166k ish on it. Never seen a manual trans leak unless it has some cooked bearings etc...

It is a 3/4" drive 30 mm socket turned down on the OD to fit the groove of the rear flange. I did it when I took the drive train apart. But there is no reason it can not be done in-car. The seal is cheap. But installation is probably a bigger deal than the cost of the seal.
