Hi All,
I've just installed a rear centre console vent kit to my car. If anyone is interested in this mod (some UK owners perhaps?) then I could post a quick descriptive & post some helpful pics too!

On the UK 520iSE you get this oddments tray.

Here's a pic of my new vents. Not so easy to install I like them better than the tray that was there before.

:o
Are the 520i's not fitted with rear vents as standard? Just a blanking plate or something?

Are they working?
You can also get a plate with lighter for the one under your vents..
I got it, but theres no cables for it when its a e34 without it from original. So mine is there but not working.. :)

Hah Dave! Tranny mounts are spot on bud - I cut that E30 shift as short as humanly possible, giving the short gearshift & short throw - I love it!

Yes they work just fine, after I knocked out the baffles under the air fan blower box thingy. I could fit a rear lighter socket and solder/splice some suitable guage cable from the front socket wires. This will give two sockets protected by 1 fuse. Shouldn't be a problem if using only low power items (chargers, sat nav etc).

The knobbly bit? It's the controller for the Sony head unit.

Looks like you need new transmission mounts, droopy droors ;)
Nice jb on the vents,

I did this and put in an inline off switch so it does not drain juice when I am parked for a few days at a time. Just takes some skill with a Dremel tool to get the hole perfect and then I Krazy glued it all in place.

What's the knobly bit bolted onto your steering column under the indicator stalk?
It's also a shame that the rear cigarette lighter wiring isn't there on E34s that didn't come with that from the factory, I could really use another cigarette lighter for mobile phone chargers and the like from the rear seat, but don't have the wiring.

How hard was it to retrofit the digital dash? Does it have the proper light diagnosis on it or just there to show the OBC functions?

The dash retrofit was tricky as a lot of the 520 wiring colours are different from the standard published ones. once I figured all that out it was easy enough to install (plug-plug-plug). The OBC only needed a few wires tweaked and a new pair or data TX/RX leads. I never fitted a check control ECU, so the lights warnings aren't displayed. I've promised myself I'd fit a loom from a 525 when I find one in the breakers (M20'd E34's are getting scarce round here!).
Cheers,
Shaun M
