hi, my rear suspension on my 520i is making a horrible noise when i go over bumbs. it bangs quite loud from both sides. you can only hear it when your inside the car. and also the suspension squeeks as it goes over bumps but if you go over a large bump for example a speed bump then it doesn't do it. just does it in the uneaven road surface. also if you have a few people in the back so the is wait on the suspension it does not squeek at all but still makes the banging noise.
please help me out as i have no idea what it can be.
thanks
p.s it is the top part of the rear suspension which is banging

My suspension also rattles/bangs over random road bumps, but not concrete or asphalt speed bumps. I still can't figure out where it comes from seeing that all my bushings are in good condition. Some of the rattles come from the rear suspension too.

Yep, I'm voting for rear shock mounts. Here's my experience with the same type of noises: http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?p=287667#post287667

hi, i have been and checked the shock mounts and they are nackered. the offside mount is almost non existant. the bolt in the middle is bolted to a gold looking washer and underneath there is a black thing. well the gold washer i know is supposed to sit in the center, i doesnt, it sits at the side and i can pull it backwards and forwards about 1 inch. the other side does not do this but it is rusty so i am going to replace them. where would i be able to get a set of mounts which will last and are good quality for the cheapest price?
thanks

Don't know about suppliers where you live (off-side, nackered and all that!), but the ones in my pictures in the other thread came from Steve Haygood here in the States and cost $21.50/each for the Meyle Heavy-duty version.
