well deserved, they both kept their heads when everyone else around them either fell off or drove into other people

The track held up okay.
I'm no fan of city street circuits but the park setting and speed at this one make it an exception. One day I intend to get up there for the GP.

A good race even though I wanted LH to do well. Good entertainment and well done to the BMW boys.

the track is not a street course, it's an enclosed race track. and drivers were very, very critical of the surface.

It had always been my understanding this is a park and the circuit consists of public roads and parking areas within it. The pavement markings would attest to this, no?

it's in a park, but it's an actual race course that is fenced in and closed to traffic - circuit gilles villeneuve. It's on Ile St. Helene, which hosts a park, the track, the casino and an amusement park called La Ronde. The pavement markings are just for the race, and to designate the sections that people can use for thei bicycles and rollerblades, as the track is usually open for that kind of thing. Occasionally, parts of the track are open for people who want to cruise on it, but only during specific parts of the year - it's not part of any road system, and it was built specifically for racing.

When I was younger we would go as late at night as we could, get past the barriers, and rip around the track until security came by to eject us, but it is much, much harder to do that now :(
