'90 m30s have the microfilter. True? I've tried looking in my '90 m30 and haven't found one. I wish it had one as I'm susceptible to allergies.

i installed the hvac system from a 92 525 when i rebuilt the car from the dash fire that sent it to my yard, i didn't want the sword style blower control, and the old style stereo so i grabbed a 92 525 and stripped it clean, i didn't have a digi cam back then so i don't have any pics, but my car was more taken apart then the pic of that 735 that was up here the other day.

That the cars just came without the *filter* itself, the housing for the filter is still there. Basically there's a 1" gap behind the heater core and AC coldness-source where the filter goes. Buy a filter, clean out the muck and slide it in.

i am right in the middle of doing a r134 convirsion on a 91 525 and when i pulled the evap out to check for oily spots i saw that it didn't have a filter but it does have a access door for it, and the evap was filthy from not having protection, so i am going back in with a filter after i finish cleaning the evap

When I did service II check on my '91 525ia I found no filter. Naturally I had one as part of getting ready tor the check and installed it. It's such a pita (make that learning experience) to work my way in that I couldn't imagine anyone doing that to remove the filter and not install one....

So I guess that explains it.

it goes in from the glove box side and it's the closest thing in the hvac box to the firewall, infront of the evap, IF you can install a filter there will be a off white cover on the side of the box with a twist type latch on top and a torx screw on the bottom, take the glove box out, take the plastic above the glove box out, take the small carpet piece that has a + screw on the middle out, take the plastic to the left of the glove box out and take the floor vent duct out, all in that order, now you can access the microfilter (or it's spot)
