Failure/recovery modes for fuel pump?? '89 525 166k, on 100 deg day, failed twice under similar conditions, but recovered and started/ran perfectly after aprox three hour cool down.
After running perfectly for more than 20 min, then slowing abruptly ,but not
braking for turn,
1) at residential intersection, and
2) on slow off ramp from 70 mph freeway
engine quit cold.
Would not restart but would fire a bit as though there was a little fuel.
Now rigged with fuel pressure gauge to windshield as test system, but with 100 degree temp the darn system will not fail.
