winfed and the Louisiana guys,
I hope you all are well stocked up on beer
Stay safe and hunkered down.
Hunkered down in Houston :) Leaving a day ahead of the main crowd was the best idea I had in a while. As MBXB said, stay safe :)

just got interwebz back a little ago and power came back a little after lunch after being out a little more then 48 hours, not a shitload of rain and really not all that much (for a hurricane) wind but this was a tree dropping mother****er, besides the shitload of limbs all over maybe 1/5 of the trees around da house were snapped off or laid over completely
heres a action shot

i didn't like how this tree was moving so i moved the cars into the empty center garage (dude headed for the hills so i used the space) about 20 minutes later it and the one next to it were down, the e30 was parked about 12' from where the trees landed

after a little butchering, the big one came close enough to the house that it bent the gutter
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/26/427251/storm6.JPG
then the sewers clogged with tree crap and the water came up from nothing to maybe a foot in the street in a couple hours with little to no rainfall

watched the big one on the right crush my bbq pit, it's about 6" shorter on one side and would of been worse had there not been 2 one inch thick pieces of granite on top to keep the tarp on that got crushed, it's only metal and will have a meeting with the hammer/dolly and welder

da shark got a little leafy and so did the e30 but i drove it out to the shop and swapped it for da beast so i could drag large hunk-o-tree down the street
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/26/427251/storm4.JPG
speaking of da beast, had a little fun on the way home tearing through the half foot water showing others the right way to do it, in something other then a car

my cargo trailer is somewhere under that tree by the green truck

action shots?
glad nothing got seriously broken, sucks for the smoker/BBQ but it will be bigger and better this round no doubt.
Interesting pictures, hope I never have to see this in person.
You fared pretty well it seems judging by the destruction of so many trees. Glad all is well.

whoever designed the bench seat in my truck clearly didn't have a 6'2" 270# guy sleeping on it in mind, the goobers working on the power knocked us offline after being on since the day after the storm on sunday morning (yesterday), we went out for the day figuring the juice would be flowing by time we got home, nope, and on walking the dog i discover we are the only house on the street without power, a quick call to chew on someones ass finds "oops someone forgot to throw the switch for our side of the street, we'll send someone in the morning" of which we are the only house, by 8:30pm it was so miserably hot and humid i said screw this grabbed my portable dvd player a pillow and headed for dodge, watched the matrix and sacked out in the ac
