please can someone explain what is the tranny on the gearbox or does it have another name because i am trying to locate the reverse light switch or even a digram will be nice pictures are a thousand words 525 e34 m20 5 speed manual gearbox

Tranny is an abbreivation for transmission - it is the gearbox. Do a search on this site for the website realoem, go there and you'll be able to find the picture you want.
