View Full Version : Date of Manufacture

I've got a 1989 535i that's coming up on twenty years. I believe it was made in the fall of 1988. I'd like to get it all cleaned up and a birthday cake made, then send pictures to the original owner (my grandfather!)
Any suggestions on determining the exact manufacture date?
Thanks!
Norman

I know mine has it on the driver's side door b-pillar along with tire infos. But, I've a 1992; who knows where it might be on earliers. Otherwise, Shogun has a link where you enter the last 5 (or 7?) digits of the serial number of it and it returns many info including the build date.

That will only get you month & year just like inputting it into realoem.com does.
You can get the build sheet from a dealer that will have the exact date of manufacture on it.
That's how I know my car just had it's 13th birthday 3 days ago. Got it a new battery as a b-day present.:D
