HOLY F*CK, that guy can drive.

I've driven a simple 2006 Impreza WRX 5 spd, (not STi) and I understand why they use it for rallying and such, because when you pull that hand brake and a sharp turn-in you get a perfect 90 degree turn, everytime.

Plus the stock car isn't that much of a slouch, well, it is till 3,100 and then the turbo kicks in. But all that power is lost in the higher rpm of 3rd.

Ahh... you can always score free tires from tire shops... Ask them if they are willing to give used tires away in your size... They have to pay to haul them away so if they can make $10 on set of 4 tires... why not... as long everything is done without receipt. They don't want to be liable for those tires.

For autocrossing, that's sweet if you scored those expensive worn tires, but usable for one or two track days... Buy, you really need tire changer and balancer or your labor cost will kill you. See if any of your autocross buddies have anything setup for this tire swaps... This way, all of you can swap tires out and learn more about tire performance... etc.
