In reading through various threads I have determined that I definitely have a problem with my steering lock. My problem is that I can't seem to remove the lock cylinder. I've turned the key 60 degrees and pushed a stiff pin into the hole, feeling the resistance as it goes past the spring clip. But no matter how much I jiggle the lock and pull on it, it won't come out.
My question is that I have noticed that both the Bentley manual and one of the threads mentioned a "master" key. Do I need a special key to remove the ignition lock cylinder?

really have to push at a bit of an angle rather than just straight in... I always have trouble with them, could be just me though. I'd venture to guess that your stiff pin just isn't cutting the mustard

Thanks Shogun! A picture is worth a thousand words.
One more question. Is there a way to disable the steering lock mechanism so I can free up the steering and drive the car home to work on it?

"Stiff pin..isn't cutting the mustard."

You would need to remove the lock assembly
