Rear headrests form an E32 that happened to be the same as the E34 headrests. I'm also working on retrofitting the electric rear roller sun blind.

Anyone have pics of what the OE shelf that housed the sunblind looked like vs the non-sun blind shelf?

I already took it out. looks solid and shows no sign of being brittle. btw: I spent 18 bucks for the headrests and bracket.

That's so cool for the headrest... I spent around $250 myself for all new stuff long time ago.

Nice. I have the rear headrests in my car too. Did you get the seat back as well and the plastic tops to the covers? If not, go back and trade them for the seat back or be sure you get the finishing tops where the headrests go thru the seat.
Also, nows a good time to treat them with some really good leather softener to keep the leather soft. They tend to really bake in the sun and get hard - the stitching will split. That sun screen of course will help.

I got everything, I cut my current seat backs to get it to go through. it was so easy. I put some leather cleaner/conditioner and in the spring I'll do the leatherique treatment.

They're two 10mm bolts that you loosenform behind the seat (or from the trunk) to loosen the bracket that holds it in. To install it into an E34, like mine, i had to drill hols for the bracket to fit.
to Billy, the headrests that i got are the same as in the first picture. I got them out of an E32 though.

That's non-electric on your E34 pic and electric on the E32 pic. I'd bet you could get non-electric ones in E32's (Shogun would know that for sure), and I think electric was an option on E34's. So you should be able to find either version in either car.

I have an e32 headrest here, they arent electric and they look like the picture minus the electric motor and central bar.
clearly if you have taken them from an E32 and they are the same as an e34 then I cant argue with that! however i have seen both up close recently and they really are quite different - so im a little confused by whats going on.
