My car's been up in the air for a few days waiting for struts and springs and now this...

1991 535i. 19mm strut nut. The used Konis I got (the correct PN for the car) seem to have a thinner shaft. They also didn't come with anything more than the collar nuts (not the adjustment knobs, but that's fine because I have an old one).

The old strut bearing fits, but not as tightly as on the old strut. The old nut won't fit...it's way too big. So obviously I need to get a new nut...

Am I missing parts? Can I just get a new nut and use this strut bearing that is a bit too big? Is there some way I can kludge this together effectively with materials I can source locally today in a midsize midwestern town?

I really don't want to order more parts and wait another few days to deal with this.

The info for this P/N:

"Fits: 5 Series - E34 524TD, 525i, 530i, 535i 88-7/90 (Exc. M-Technik and electric susp.) and 5 Series - E34 524TD, 525i, 535i; (Exc. M-Technik and electric susp.) 8/90-92 (Use only if Top Nut = M12-19mm, if Top Nut = M14-22mm use 8641 1224Sport)"

It was definitely a 19mm nut. So what gives?

remember me saying that it might need the spacer collar a while back? add the correct nuts and you should be good to go.

Hmm, no I must have missed that.

Fortunately a piece of 1/2" type L copper tubing seems to be the right size to act as that collar.

Still odd that Koni advertises this as the correct part for the car. Oh well. Problem solved-ish.

It is the correct part however whomever you bought them from didn't include the little collar deals. Anyways glad you found a work around.
