Central locking issue

Hi all,

Im a newbie on here and im having a central locking issue with my BMW 523I
(E39) on a P plate 1997. I recently changed the battery in my keyfob and the light is working on the fob but i have no operation on the central locking i am having to use the key to open and close the doors,the central locking has just stopped working for some reason??. Can anyone help with this issue as to what might be wrong or what the fault could be,all info is appreciated.

If you took more than 3 seconds to change the battery, the fob and the alarm will have lost sync. there is a procedure in the user manual to re-sync. key on, key off, press button, stand on head, say alphabet, scull a beer......

if you can't find it or dont have the manual i'm sure there is a link i have seen somewhere.

Thanx i checked out some of the older threads on here about Central Locking
but didn't really get the info i require on the re-sync thing you mentioned in your reply,but thanx anyways for throwing some light on my problem
