Money well spent! Your best 'mod'?

I took the car out today to see a guy about some rubber (Interpret that how you will :D) and as I was driving around I just thought to myself how the lowering springs I invested in recently were money really well spent! The car feels like it has a new lease on life and you couldn't pay me to change it back. Easily the best £100 I've ever spent on my old banger :D... (Although I think the T-Stars may come in a close second once I get then on!). I would seriously recommend this spring chang to anyone as you get such a lot for so little expense.

I thought I would share the joy with you and ask: what's been your best mod/upgrade/addition to your e34 be it performance, asthetics or even functionality?!

I think my best mod has been the EAT chip, but its a real close run with the 5 speed manual in place of the auto.

I got Apex srpings from a semi-local motor factor! They were cheap, which probably means that a more expensive version would probably have maintained a softer ride quality while flattening it out in the corners... These ones are stiff all the time! The increased stabilty is so worth the 'reduced' comfort over speed bumbs though... Do it!

im currently interested in investing in a performance chip for my 92' e34 but i dont really know how to go about installing it and would i have to make some mods to install it.... it claims to have an upgrade of 26+ hp and 22lbs/ft+ and eliminating the speed governor im not sure if this would be true.. any help and suggestions? where is the ecu located on the car? and is it worth my time and money (35$ seems too good to be true)

From what I've read on here those very cheap chips seem to be a waste of time and effort, the only one worth looking into is an EAT chip. Here's a link to the site...

Do a search on here for reviews, people tend to be very impressed. I actually bought one for my 535i from a guy on this forum and still have it, although I later found out it wasn't compatible with my car because it's a euro version without a CAT. If you're interested in buying it let me know. (I didn't notice what car you were buying it for)... The guy who makes/sells them was going to swap it for me for a different chip suitable for the non-cat 535i but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired if you know what I mean! :p

Swapping the chips out is a peice of cake, the DME which contins the ECU (and the chip) is located under the bonnet in a big black box by the windshield.

on a 525, the most power increase you will see with a chip is around 8 horsepower. The chip primarily increases driveability by giving you a power band that offers more power down low. And that's with a 200 dollar chip, not a 35 dollar chip.

Don't be fooled by false claims made by companies like the one trying to sell you the chip you are describing.

CD43 with dice adapter for ipod and aux input for Sirius, but to be honest, trading up from the 530iT to the M5T is the best mod I ever did in 7 years of touring ownership.
