how to unclip the climate control cables (?)

I'm on my way to the heater core, how do these climate control cables unclip?
the red and blue connectors... sorry about the photo.

thanks - just thought i'd ask as all the plastic is brittle as heck, I haven't busted too much myself yet but there is a lot of evidence of previous struggles down here :D.

in the end I discovered there were little rubber wedgies stuffed between the clips you have to take out first. a whole lot easier when the whole panel is removed. thanks again.
