My e34 has GVWR 4575. Is my car this heavy? 4575 lbs? A friend told me that this is gross vehicle weight and it includes four 150 lbs occupants (1 driver and 3 passengers). So that means the car's weight is really 3975 lbs?

depends on which model it is....I don't think there is an e34 with a gross unladen weight above 3900 lbs. 525-35 is about 3500, spread for tourings, v8s top out below 4000 lbs. that weight refers to the max weight of the car with passengers, payload, fluids, tow loads, et cetera. the m30s-50's-60s can pull about 2000lbs IIRC.

GVWR means maximum permissible weight. GVWR 4575 lbs. is your maximum gross weight. I believe E34 525i is around 3495 lbs. curve weight, E34 530i is around 3600 lbs. curve weight, and 540i is around 3800 lbs. curve weight. Curve weight is with full tank and ready to go.
