airconditioning microfilter introduction date

All BMW vehicles produced 09/1991 or later (except E30)
are equipped 100% with the microfilter.
In addition all E31 8 series have been equipped with 2 microfilters from their production start.

Vehicles with the microfilter are supposed to have a red
"Maintenance Reminder" decal in the glove department.
However, on vehicles produced from 09/1991-05/1992 many of the labels were inadvertantly left off. These vehicles were, however, equipped with microfilter. refer to SI 64 12 92 (3632) for further information on the microfilter decal.
Some vehicles produced prior to 09/1991 maybe eqipped with a microfilter, and can be positively identified with the "Maintenance Reminder" decal in the glove department.

The procedure for removal/installation of the microfilter element is contained in all current Repair Manual microfiche. For information concerning typical microfilter replacement intervals and capacities refer to SI 64 06 92 (3518).

It s a pain in the ass on the E34, but well worth the improved airflow, especially with summer coming up

no, it will not have it, my 11/88 E32 750 also does not have it.
