1990 525i

I currently have an 89 525 and am in need of a few parts. I found a 90 525i with a bad motor. I know that the 89 was kind of an odd ball year, as in there were lots of changes made during the production year. I am going to look at this other car today and if everything works I will probably do it if the price is right. Which way would be the way to go drop my drivetrain in the 90 or pull the parts I need and sell or scrap the rest. Give me some opinions either way.
