Just got the O2 sensor replaced for $60 (I supplied the part)
Looking at the old one, it had a lot of carbon deposited on it.
Is that what they should look like?
I will be replacing the MAF tomorrow when that comes in. I might go for a free Catalytic converter test today.

Prelimenary testdrive = excellent
The Check Engine Light has not turned on, which no forced me to do a more in dept diagnoses to determine if the MAF really does need to be replaced.
Sadly this new burst of power is too much for the old slushbox. The tranny made a interesting noise on full throttle and sadly now limiting the right foot's pleasure.
here is a pic of the old one

Did your gearbox make the noise at WOT or under normal driving. I'm not sure but i think when the car is at WOT the engines ecu doesn't use readings from the o2 sensor.

What is WOT?
It made the noise as i liberally accelerated from a standstill, somewhere around 4-5000rpm in 1st gear
Engine was at operating temp (if WOT has to to with temp)

WOT means Wide Open Throttle.
4-5k rpm is quite high so i dont think your ecu would have been using o2 readings. Just sounds like it was the autoboxs time.
