Help: Outer door handle broken

I wanted to see if anyone has had to replace their door handle mechanism. I want to keep the lock the same as the ignition. I have a parts car that I have pulled the door handle from..... Is it easier to just swap the key lock or is it easier to grind off the rivets that hinge the metal handle and swap it out with the broken one. I will get pictures if it will help. Thanks

thanks, I didnt use the key so all the wafers fell out, but eventually i put it all back together.......the info made it alot easier thanks!
