View Full Version : OT: Vaseline on the windscreen

Son lent his car to a family friend. I got the job of sorting the wipers out: 'They started to go very slowy and then got stuck'. Sorted out the seized linkages and thought all was well. But it starts raining while I'm returning the car and I think wtf? this screen is very greasy. Good thing the sun isnt out or I'd be seeing nothing! Two guesses what the clever lady had put on the screen to 'help' the wipers move.

Holy hell.. what are people thinking.. then again, she could have coated the wipers will engine oil.. synthetic of course. :)

Ha. Use Rain-X windshield fluid, then once your moving about 50+ mph the rain just sheets off and you don't have to use the wiper ;)

Darn you BO!!! I just got my euro plate for the E34 and guess what.. same EXACT plate as yours. I curse you! :p Nice plate by the way. ;)

Aquapel is better and lasts years!


Ha. Use Rain-X windshield fluid, then once your moving about 50+ mph the rain just sheets off and you don't have to use the wiper ;)

Hmm I checked aquapel on line, it does appear to be better but you have to apply it. I use rain-x windsheild wiper fluid so all I have to do to apply it is press the windshield wiper button :).

I was thinking about that Rain-X stuff... Might give it a go if u reckon it does the business. :)

I use rain-x, the application fluid, not windshield spray. Its a pain getting it on haze free, but works great. I rarely use wipers above 50mph

it's easy to apply, directions scared the hell outta me before I used it. Simple to use, need any? I bought a case.


Hmm I checked aquapel on line, it does appear to be better but you have to apply it. I use rain-x windsheild wiper fluid so all I have to do to apply it is press the windshield wiper button :).

A case? Sounds like you will need three or four packets to coat all the windows. Is that true?
