Gauges non op. Non tech override/temp fix. '89 525a 174k.
Start up cold, temp and fuel gauges non op. Worse, alarm chime sounds continuously while foot brake is on. Hot engine gauges/alarm OK.
Non tech override:
Hook up seat belt,
Start and immediately shut off engine,
Turn key to position two. Repeat four times.
Restart. Usually works.
If gauges no op, repeat above.
What the heck is going on?
