Is my bearing on backwards?

Getting around to installing my drive shaft. I loosely bolted the center bearing in place and noticed that the bearing is almost as full forward as it can go. This shouldn't be. I need to pre-load the bearing before tightening.

Hmm The guy that installed the center bearing didn't install the dust shield/s. Items 11 and 12.

i know that i've got one that doesn't look like it has a dust shield on one side.

here are some reference pics, you'd be best to judge which side is which. a maxed out center bearing sounds like someone snugged up the u-joint assembly too much, which can make the driveshaft shorter.

The bearing carrier is assymetrical. If your driveshaft is on the centreline when looking from directly below, then it is OK.
