View Full Version : Oil Pan Gasket Interchangeability?
Since they're all M30s, would an oil pan gasket meant for an E28 535i/E24 635CSi work on an E34 535i? The oil pan mating surfaces are the same as far as I know, so it should fit fine, correct?

Yeah i cant see why not, but wait for someone with better knowledge to confirm
My reason for asking is that the oil pan gasket in the 535i needs replacing, and I am unable to find a non-cork E34 535i oil pan gasket locally. I have an extra Victor-Reinz one laying around for my E24 635CSi (which is an 88 so it also has the M30B35, but the oil pan is different), so if I can get away with just using that, it would be great. The only differences that I could notice was the absence of the tabs at the rear-end of the oil pan. On the E24, there is a transmission bellhousing access plate which is removable, whereas the plate appears to be integrated into the oil pan on the E34.
Cheers,
-Emil
