Anyone looking for a really well tuned 1990 535im? There's a really nice one on autotrader. :)

After coming to grips with the fact that I don't have time to do all the engine mods I wanted to do, I pulled the trigger on a 2001 e39 M5. Soooo... now my dear dear 535 needs a new home.

BTW - Many differences between the two cars as you would expect. Horsepower being the biggest difference, but the e39 is more like the e34 was before all the suspension upgrades. Softer ride, not as tossable, but really a beast when you push the go pedal down. In contrast, the e34 is so tight the nose stays flat no matter what you do, brake, turn, accelerate, etc. I'll miss the old girl, especially when I need to crack into that V8 to do some maintenance, I'm sure I'll be longing for the simplicity and durability of the M30.

V8 is a no brainer, loose oil pump bolts the major offender. Other than that the valve cover gaskets will eventually leak, other than that it's pure smooth sailing!

Owning a V8 for a decade. I have to say it is totally reliable. I have not done any engine work other than change water pump, spark plugs and coil boots. It doesn't need any repair.

You can always upgrade the springs for more stiff ride... E39 is pretty soft in comparison to E34.

Yeah - this one needs some TLC for the little odds and ends, but the engine seems pretty dang smooth. Heck - I just like having rear door panels that stay on for once!

I might have to pay it off a little more before my wife lets me tinker with suspension upgrades... :)

Those cars haul. The clutch is the weakest link in the drivetrain - and the aftermarket upgrades are crazy expensive, not like chuckin a e28 flywheel in it and an m5 clutch.
