Hood latch replacement

i'd like to know if anyone here has replaced the hood latch/cable and how to go about removing it and installing a new one.

Remvoe the front grille first. Go easy on the fragile plastic screw/flaring fastener things that hold it, just loosen the screw and then pull. You need the grille out of the way so yo can undo the retaining nuts- not much clearance so best tool is one of those neat new ratcheting spanners. I don'tthink you have to pull the front cowling / kidney surround panel that goes the whole width. I can never get them to clip back in properly.
