My center silencer has nearly rotted away, so my options are a new used original (already found one, very good shape. See pic) or build one from stainless steel (see pic in next post)
What would you recommend?

Keep it simple... just use the used one.

I would probably do the used one also, unless you want a different sounding exhaust

I swapped out mine for a used one back in August. I scraped away or converted any surface rust I found before putting it on. Very pleased with the results.

Benny, did you weld it on @ the rear silencer or?

I actually replaced the middle and rear as one glorious used chunk that I got off a guy for $75. The only welding I had to do was on the other side of the cat as I decided to switch down-pipes at the same time.

Tried building one once. Seen a few do it also. All fail the quality or rear seat drone test. Knowing that I bought a new Eissenmann for the M50. About USD $300 here in Oz. Got a new muffler too for about the same dollars. They bolt together with two special joiners- and bolt up to the cat directly. Sounds nice, works perfectly, car runs like new :). M50 ECUs like to know their combustion is good.
Beware, 525 has three or more tailpipe ocnfigurations so it can be trouble mixing up one muffler with another resonator.
