Quick question:
Do I have to replace the hose connecting the engine to the brake booster with a specific kind of hose or can I just go with the generic AutoZone vacuum hose of equivalent diameter?

It is stronger, stiffer than usual. Regular hose will collapse under such vacuum pressure and give you no brake boost when it fails.

Thanks, Tiger. That is exactly what I needed to know.

It has several layers. Even when old and brittle, they are usually good. Its a safety item :)
Just make sure it is fastended well at both ends, should be good.
