It's time to replace the exhaust on my 1990 525i turbo charged M20. Engine was built by Korman Autoworks in 2001. Currently on the car: OE cat & center silencer, Dinan muffler, all need to be replaced. What would you recommend?

from the turbo get a new 3" mandrel bent exhaust with no cat and your choice of mufflers. on bimmerforums.com they have a good section on turbo bmw of your can read this aussie site, http://performanceforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&f=15&page=1&pp=30&sort=lastpost&order=desc&daysprune=-1 theres a lot of info there

That TCD system doesn't look at all special to me (but I could be wrong).
If you want to open it up just get a local shop to do it w/ 3" stainless (if they are equipped for it) and polished if you want. The stock muffler may perform better than a short tube, which will be loud- very, without a resonator. There are no performance losses with the stock e34 exhaust (e28 is not quite so good)- if it handles an M88/S38 at full song, a M20 under FI would be no problem.
