I'm having problems with the brakes on the above car. This manifested itself in a quite severe pull to the left under braking. Strangely though, this was an intermittant problem. The car went back to the guy who sold it to me (an independent BMW specialist) who removed, checked, cleaned and greased the front calipers - including ensuring the pistons were sliding freely. On collecting the car, things initially felt better but now it feels like there's a block of wood between the pedal and the floor, a very strange solid feeling - but with little in the way of stopping power. I've spoken to the mechanic since, who says when he bled the brakes he experienced the same thing when bleeding the O/S caliper which made him think the hose might be blocked, although this turned out not to be correct. Can the calipers themselves develop an internal fault? A blockage? Is there anything else I should be checking? I'll have to try fitting a replacement caliper myself because I don't have time to return it to the mechanic before going on a long road trip, so any help gratefully received.
