Does the 95 525i with the M50-TU and ASC+T have EML or "drive by wire" sytsem? I hear the earlier 535i does.
Just wondering as I do not want my car to go "Toyota" on me from electronic interference. :)

no worry, even the 1986 E32 750 already has EML, never had problem with that so far.

Interesting, not really worried about the car being a runnaway, but does the 95 525i with Asc+T have EML? I think it does

that is easy to check

the answer is NO. ASC+T has a bowden cable. Already the E32 740 which came out earlier had again bowden cable. Only 735 and 750 had EML.

You actually have a greater probability of having an unintended acceleration in your 525i than someone might in their toyota, as there was an issue with cables falling out of the throttle body. I had my cruise control cable fall out of my 525i and had a minor event. Luckily it was at stop and go speeds, and I was able to hold the car with the brake and pull off, wherein I pulled the cable off and hung it against the manifold with a zip tie. I think that don gale sold some clips that would keep your throttle cables from falling out.

There was a recall for cruise control cables that installed clips to make sure the cables stay in place. Mine has had that done. Wonder if that simple of an recall would fly today as everyone seems to need to be over nannied.

maybe I order also some for my new E36 M3 02/1998, but still have to get more experience with the M3, all new to me.
That is the U.S. version M3, not EURO.
