Hey Guys,
It is the first time I service the differential so I need your input on the sounds I hear. It is the one on my E34.

Sounds normal to me, there is some play in the spider gears for constant lube.

If yours sounds like the one in the video then its okay. ]
If it sounds anything like this, then its your pinion bearing gone bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ppiDwNEySc

Add some diff additive if the sound freaks you out, I put a 3.46 in my '90 525i (from a wrecked 94 530i) and it made awful noises and shakes, I thought the clutch was doing it... only once it warmed up a little. Added a tube of Nulon diff additive and it went away, its done a few thousand since then with no trouble and no noise at all. You can always just pop in some of the right Royal Purple- or Redline gear oil- that may do the same thing, or better :)
